Background
Mr R is an elderly gentleman living with his wife and found himself unable to manage steps any more.
His long-time family home has stone steps leading to it from the street level.
Mr R is a wheelchair user wishing not to transfer to another system to climb steps.
His home has communal steps which means a fixed chairlift or lift was not possible.
Project Objectives
Mr R wanted to increase his outside activities; to visit friends, parks, restaurants and enjoy the outdoors again after many years of being trapped inside because he couldn’t manage any steps.
Baronmead Solution
Baronmead’s solution was to recommend and supply a Scalamobil S35 mobile stairclimber which allowed Mr R to stay in his own wheelchair while ascending and descending the stone steps.
Our solution included delivery, training for carers on site and an ongoing service contract.
