Background
The Garrick Club, founded in 1831, is a private members’ Club situated in the heart of London’s West End and Theatreland.
The Club provides excellent dining facilities, accommodation, exclusive member events, an important theatrical library that includes many manuscripts and documents and the most comprehensive collection of theatrical paintings and drawings in existence.

The club also has reciprocal arrangements with several other private members’ clubs around the world, which members can visit.
Project Objectives
The Garrick Club requirements included the following:
- Increase visitors by offering a means of disabled access.
- Provide easy operation for staff to enable disabled persons to visit otherwise inaccessible parts of the Club.
- Provide an easy-to-use solution, encouraging regular visits from members.
- Provide a comfortable solution for members to ascend and descend stairs in a safe and dignified manner.
- Offer regular maintenance programmes and support packages.
Baronmead Solution
Baronmead’s solution was to recommend and supply a Stairmate Major mobile wheelchair carrier stairclimber and wheelchair. The Stairmate Major was ideal due to the wide entry and large staircase. Fixed lifting solutions were not an option.
Our solution included an ongoing service contract, delivery and training for up to 8 staff.
